6 kidney contribution chain patients satisfy for 1st time at Loyola Medical Center

3 people have lots to be thankful for this holiday season, thanks to a kidney donation chain.A couple of months ago, 6 people were patients at Loyola Medical Center participating in a kidney transplant chain. On Wednesday, they returned so the recipients can meet their donors for the very first time.The chain

began with Terri Thede, who stated a story on Facebook about a child in need influenced her to contribute a kidney.

“I seemed like if I was donating, I wished to do the most amount of good,” Thede said.Her kidney was

a match for 72-year old William Parra. He was on the organ donor list for 3 weeks when he got the call.

“Anyone out there who is lucky to have an other half like I do and a donor like this, everybody is going to paradise, as far as I’m concerned,” Parra said.While William’s

better half Paula was not a match for him, she concurred to keep the chain going and donate her kidney to another client. That wound up being 34-year-old Vitali Stasiuk. He was diagnosed with kidney failure throughout a check out here from his native Ukraine.

“Total shock to learn I needed a kidney transplant,” Stasiuk stated through a translator.Vitali’s mother wished to offer him her kidney, but was not a match.”But they ensured us everything is gon na be fine. Even if your kidney will not work for you boy, there is going to be somebody who will benefit,” his mother, Svitlana Gotska, said.That someone was 61-year old Irene Zapata, who had been on dialysis.”Thank God, it was extremely quick when I received the

call, “Zapata said.The chain was a 10-hour treatment that occurred in August.
